When you say “Sahara Desert” you’re actually saying “Desert Desert”:

The name Sahara comes from Arabic, and it translates to “desert.” This mean when we say Sahara Desert, we’re really just repeating ourselves! The Sahara, one of the largest desert in the world at 9,400,000 square kilometers, covers most of Northern Africa and is almost as large as the United States!

It stretches from the Red Sea to the Atlantic Ocean and includes parts of the Mediterranean. The desert used to be much wetter than it is today, however climate change has drastically expanded the size and temperature of the “Desert Desert.”
