Silver, not Copper, is the best conductor of Electricity

A conductor is a material that contains movable electrical charges. Metallic is the most familiar type of conductor. In metallic conductors, the moveable charged particles are electrons. Copper and aluminum are common metallic conductors.

Copper is the most commonly used metal used in electrical wiring, but silver is the best conductor. Silver is more expensive, though. Gold doesn’t corrode and is therefore used for high quality surface to surface contacts.

There are non-metallic conductors, too. Graphite and all plasmas are decent conductors. There are even conductive polymers. Copper wiring is often used in the electrical workings of buildings and houses. It is not uncommon for junkies and thieves with a lot of time to strip buildings of the copper wiring inside the walls and air conditioning units.

Abandoned buildings are especially vulnerable of being stripped of their copper wiring. The wire is then sold and melted. Fixing stripped walls of copper wiring is expensive and many construction sites in cities have security at night to help prevent stripping from taking place.
The Oldest known living thing is a bristlecone pine called Methuselah

The Tree is called the Methuselah Tree, and it is the oldest living thing that we know about. It is a type of pine tree that grows in the White Mountains of Inyo County California. The oldest tree dates back to the year 2832 BC, making it 4843 years old, and its location remains undisclosed to protect it from vandalism!

The tree was discovered in 1957 by Edmund Schulman and Tom Harlan, and has since been the marvel of scientists around the world.
Steve Jobs never used license plates for his cars

Steve Jobs was always known for his signature image of a black turtleneck, sneakers, and blue denim pants. What fewer people relate with him, though, is the silver Mercedes SL55 AMG he always drove, and the fact that it never had a license plate.

Jobs had driven the same car for years, but never had a license plate on it. He was also never fined by the police for it. So how did he get away with it? It's all because of a loophole in the California vehicle laws.

Anyone in California has a maximum of six months after the issuing of a plate number to put a license plate on a new car. All Jobs did was change cars every six months to an identical, new model, so that he could keep the plates off.

Of course, doing this for most of us would be senseless hassle, as well as potentially very expensive. The gimmick would also probably run its course soon, and in the event the vehicle was stolen, identification would be much more difficult.
Picking one's nose and eating it might be healthy

Mucophagy (literally mucus-eating, also referred as picking one's nose and eating it) is the consumption of the nasal mucus, boogers, and other detritus obtained from nose-picking.

Some research suggests that mucophagy may be a natural and even healthy activity, which exposes the digestive system to bacteria accumulated in the mucus, thereby helping to strengthen the immune system.

So what crazy science stuff do you know? Comment it!
The first tanks were so loud that it was impossible to communicate via radio; instead they used carrier pigeons

The Mark I was the world’s first combat tank made by the British Army during World War I. it was developed to be able to cross trenches, resist small arms fire, travel over difficult terrain, carry supplies, and to capture fortified enemy positions.

The noise inside the tank was deafening and the driver used hand signals to communicate with the gearsmen. He first got their attention by banging on the engine block with a heavy spanner. There was no wireless radio communication.

Communication with command posts was by means of carrier pigeons that had their own small exit hatch in the sponsons, or by runners. The noise and vibration was too great to use any other form of communication and early experiments showed that carrier pigeons were the best route.

Tanks had major flaws when they came out. However, British propaganda often used tanks and promoted them. They portrayed them as the wonder weapon that would quickly win World War I. They were featured in films and popular songs
There is enough water on Mars to cover the entire planet’s surface in more than 11 meters of water

There is enough water on Mars to cover the entire planet’s surface in more than 11 meters of water:

You probably know that there isn’t water floating around in lakes on Mars, which makes this a little confusing. Actually, liquid water can’t even exist on Mars’ surface for very long periods of time because of its low atmospheric pressure.

Mars has two polar ice caps, however, which are made mostly of water. If just one of those melted, it would be a sufficient enough quantity of water to cover the entire planet- of course the water wouldn’t last forever due to the atmosphere. It is believed that there are large quantities of water ice trapped in Mars’ thick cryosphere (the areas where liquid is frozen in solid form).

It’s also been very strongly suggested by a large number of evidence that water did, at one point, exist on the planet’s surface in liquid form due to geographical formations and landforms
A Man’s cell phone once actually caused auto-pilot to deactivate

So maybe you should listen when your air hostess tells you to turn off all portable electronic devices, instead of cleverly hiding your iPhone in your sleeve; you might just be responsible for the next aerial crisis!

Portable electronic devices are classified as intentional or non-intentional transmitters of electronic signals. The list according to Boeing includes cell phones, pagers (who uses pagers anymore anyways), musical devices, etc.

Passenger carried PED’s on commercial airplanes can cause an interference with airplane systems, and they will usually be blamed for complications regardless of the true source of the problem.

Boeing is very strict about enforcing its PED policy, as one of its air planes nearly crashed when a man’s cell phone caused the auto-pilot to shut off. Maybe it’s a reflection on how addicted we are to technology that we can’t even cooperate with the people working hard to ensure that we have a 'safe and enjoyable flight'.
A Man sued his Wife for being Ugly

Northern Chinese resident Jian Feng divorced and sued his wife for $120,000 and won! The story goes that Mr. Feng was deeply in love with his beautiful wife until they had a baby girl.

Feng was horrified at how ugly the baby was and demanded to know who his wife had cheated on him with because the baby resembled neither of the parents. It was only then that his wife confessed that she had received intense plastic surgery to look radically different. Feng divorced and sued his wife under the terms that she had gotten him to marry her under false pretenses!
