Holograms are photographs tat appear three-dimensional(3-D).
This effect is produced by takin a photograph using two different sets of light waves from a laser beam.

Holograms hav many uses because they allow people to see an object from different angles.

Making holograms:
To make a hologram, a laser beam is split into 2 parts, one called an object beam and other a reference beam.
Only t object beam reflects off t object tat is to be photographed. Both beams strike a photographic film, where they interfere(combine) and create a 3-D looking image.
